It's time to start thinking about elections! If you are thinking about running, here are a few things you should know.
There are no pre-requirements for being an officer. Depending on the position you run for, you should be prepared to devote a minimum of 2 hours and up to 8+ hours in any given week on ACM related stuff. If you want to be treasurer, you should have a car large enough to bring back $600 worth of food and soda at least once a month. To nominate yourself or others, email acm.uofm.officers@gmail.com with a blurb including what position you're interested in running for and how you want to make the ACM world a better place. Descriptions of duties are ripped directly from our constitution. For a better understanding of what we actually do, talk to the current officers.
President/Chairperson Nominees
The Chairman shall preside at all meetings of this chapter and of its Executive Council. The Chairman shall represent this chapter at all meetings with the ACM Regional Representative. The Chairman shall also appoint all committees of this chapter and committee chairmen, except the Chairman of the Program Committee.

Vice Nominees
The Vice Chairman shall assume the duties of the Chairman in the event of the Chairman's absence. The Vice Chairman shall assume those duties of the Chairman that are so delegated by the Chairman. The Vice Chairman shall also be Chairman of the Programming/Events Committee.
Community Ambassador Nominees
The Community ambassador shall be responsible for all chapter fund raising, event sponsorship, and maintaining relations with industry and academia. The officer shall also be responsible for introducing all contacts to the new Community Ambassador after election or replacement.
Treasurer Nominees
The Treasurer shall collect dues and maintain financial and membership records. The Treasurer shall make the annual report of this chapter's finances as required by the Treasurer of the National ACM. He/She shall report the required records to the IRS at the required times.
- Brian "Jim v2" Auron - I believe the U of M chapter of ACM is a fine organization deserving of greater recognition and respect. To this extent, I will work both to improve the already sparkling image of this chapter and to encourage non-members in enrolling by providing muffins and/or cupcakes on every-so-often at member functions. Also, I firmly believe this chapter deserves a larger space to occupy and will campaign vigorously and energetically for that larger space should I be provided the opportunity. Secretary Nominees
The Secretary shall keep minutes of all chapter meetings and Executive Council meetings. The Secretary shall prepare the annual chapter report for the presentation to this chapter at the annual Election Meeting and prepare the report to the Chairman of the ACM Student Membership and Chapters Committee after each meeting. The Secretary shall send three copies of official notification to the Executive Director of the National ACM of any proposed changes in this chapter's Bylaws for approval prior to their distribution to the membership. The Secretary shall similarly notify the Executive Director promptly of the final action of the proposed changes.

Membership Nominees
The Membership Facilitator shall serve to bring members concerns to the counsel, organize yearly membership drives, orient new members in the policies and practices of the local ACM. The membership officer shall also be responsible for organizing events directed to creating a greater sense of community within the chapter.
