Looking for a great way to share your expertise with the next generation of software engineers? As a volunteer mentor or judge, you can. Sign up now.
What's all involved?
Mentors' commitment will comprise of a few hours during the week to monitor the forums and answer questions students may have. Judges will be asked to spend a Saturday afternoon and early evening listening to presentations and deciding the winners. The total time commitment will be determined by how many teams sign up. All mentors and judges are strongly encouraged to attend the final planning committee meeting at 6:30 on Tuesday, February 24 to go over the requirements for students and your roles in the competition.
Who are you looking for?
We are looking for industry professionals with at least 2 years of experience to serve as mentors. Industry professionals with at least 5 years experience and faculty members are encouraged to volunteer to judge the competition.
How many people do you need?
We're hoping for about 20 volunteers. This gives us a 1:1 team to mentor ratio and 3 judges for each of the competition deliverables.
What do I get out of it?
As an industry mentor or judge, you get first hand experience working with the competitors and the designs they produce. This can help your company truly target its campus recruiting efforts at students that you know are qualified and passionate about software design. It also puts your company's name in front of students in a meaningful way. As a faculty member, it gives your students an opportunity to get to know you outside the classroom. All mentors and judges will receive competition T-shirts and are encouraged to join us for dinner on March 7 during awards.
